Victoria Summer Music Festival Website Redesign

Product Design Internship with Snow Leopard Productions

TIME PERIOD

9 weeks, Summer 2021

RESPONSIBILITIES

Logo design, Website design, Graphic design

WHAT I DID

Using Bandzoogle (a Canadian content management system for musicians and bands), I helped Snow Leopard Productions (specifically Gloria Leung and Debbie Rosenfeld) redesign the website for Victoria Summer Music Festival (VSMF). My responsibility included:

  • Redesigning the logo

  • Creating email and letterhead banners for VSMF

  • Using HTML + CSS to edit parts of the website

  • Helping to redesign the past concerts archive, the contact page, and the about pages

  • Creating graphics for the website

  • Developing miscellaneous assets for clientele to help them edit and use the website for the future

Below is a collection of the different configurations of the logo that I designed for VSMF: horizontal, vertical, favicon, on white, and on black.

WHAT I LEARNED

Helping to redesign the website for VSMF was immensely rewarding. Through this, I was not only able to polish my skills in working completely remotely with a team, but I was also able to gain experience in (1) redesigning a website using a CMS and (2) finding ways to improve the user’s experience in even the smallest ways, be it through the placement of content on a page or through the organization of the website’s pages themselves.

During this internship, I also learned new ways to go above and beyond in helping clientele; for example, it didn’t even occur to me to write down “how-to” documents for our clientele when it came to editing the website after we were done creating it! With this internship, I’ve become way more aware and mindful of the potential needs of clients and how best to fulfill them.

I’d like to give special thanks to Gloria Leung for being an incredible mentor and design director and helping me grow more as a designer through this experience!

Once again, the website for VSMF can be found here.
