“The Lovers”

In the summer of 2020, at the height of the pandemic, I collaborated with Nassu and Mimi Kollie to design a t-shirt. The objective was to create an interpretation of The Lovers tarot card, except with masking as a central theme. That’s why the couple here, traditionally depicted as Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, are both wearing masks made from leaves and flowers. Additionally, the theme of masking is also reflected in the bottom quote that reads “[a]las, there is nothing left to uncover.”

Unfortunately, at the time of writing, we were unable to sell this design on t-shirts, as was originally the plan. However, I am nonetheless grateful for this opportunity to work with the Kollie sisters on this project.
